What started with a small 1967 gathering of 384th veterans and their wives in New York City grew into a decades-long tradition of camaraderie and remembrance. These reunions evolved from simple get-togethers to elaborate "Memorial Junkets" back to England, where veterans combined sightseeing with emotional returns to Grafton Underwood to dedicate the group’s original monument, memorial window, and new memorial. It was during one of those "Junkets" that the original monument was dedicated; on another, the memorial window was dedicated, and on another, the new memorial was dedicated.
Today’s reunions serve as a living bridge between the heritage of the past and the generations responsible for its future. The camaraderie that once bonded airmen in the skies over Europe now unites their descendants, creating a community of families dedicated to honoring a shared sacrifice. By shifting the focus to the next generation, today's reunions ensure the 384th Bomb Group’s legacy remains a living history and equips descendants to carry the torch of the 384th, and truly keep the show on the road.
