The 384th Bomb Group Heritage Association is an annual membership based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to perpetuating the history, valor and legacy of the 384th Bombardment Group (H) in WWII.
The mission of the 384th Bomb Group Heritage Association is to preserve the history and legacy of the 384th Bomb Group for now and for future generations.
A foundational part of our preservation mission is our research website, 384thBombGroup.com. The website’s collection represents the world's largest, most comprehensive archive of information about the 384th Bomb Group, including original documents, mission and B-17 data, servicemen’s records, photos, ephemera, and firsthand accounts.
The Association further honors the 384th's wartime heritage by supporting the restoration and preservation of the places, monuments, B-17s, organizations, and artifacts that perpetuate the history and legacy created by the Group in WWII. As it was the veterans' duty then to win a war, the Association's duty now is to ensure future generations never forget.
Founded in 1968 following a historic veteran reunion in New York City, our Association began as a way for the men of the 384th to maintain the unbreakable bonds of kinship forged during World War II. While our roots were planted as a veterans-only group, we have since evolved into a vital bridge between generations. We are now a thriving community of "NexGens," descendants, and dedicated historians working alongside our veterans to honor the Group’s 316 combat missions. Through regular reunions, quarterly newsletters, and active storytelling across our digital platforms, we strive to preserve the enduring connection between those who served and the families who carry their legacy forward. We are committed to transforming lived history into an eternal heritage. Through every story told and every name remembered, we bridge the gap between history and heritage, keeping the 384th’s spirit of camaraderie alive for the future.
The 384th Bomb Group Heritage Association is proud to help preserve the heritage embodied in the inspiring words of Major Selden McMillin. From the confines of Stalag Luft 3 prisoner of war camp, to his commanding officer, Colonel Budd Peaslee, McMillin wrote the following message: "Keep the show on the road." This simple phrase, adopted as the group motto, is our link to a proud heritage. It is also our commitment to ensure the freedom earned with the sweat and blood of these brave men is preserved for future generations.
